Independent Cafés/Coffee Houses

In light (more like celebration) of the news that Starbucks is closing the vast majority of it’s outlets in Australia, I’m going to compile a list of independent coffee shops in London that could be used as recommendations. Aussie/Kiwi run coffee shops will be highly prized - I have only found a few places where I can order a flat white and not be looked at like I was speaking a foreign language.

Here's the list so far, if it starts getting too long, I'll try and create a seperate page for it:

The Punch Tavern

I am a big fan of Taylor St Baristas, and a regular at their Richmond Branch. They have also just opened up a new shop just across from Liverpool Street Station

Ooooh, Richmond is a little far out for me, but I'll certainly try the Liverpool Street Station one. :D

Great idea - just a shame there aren't any great places in Farringdon.. I would walk 10mins out of the way to work for it.

No, just stupidly busy with other things: new job, trying to plan a wedding, renovations, that sort of hing.

I feel like a neglectful parent.

oh this is great.
You could probably add any Portuguese run cafe if you want decent espresso

Do you know any in particular I could put up on the list? Perhaps one with a particular atmosphere?

I'm enjoying these postings.

For me the best has to be Caffé Vergnano 1882 on 62 Charing Cross Road, London.

I keep meaning to go there just for the espresso. Been past it so many times but never inside.
